Fed: Sydney Jewish leader urges support for Bam

A Sydney Jewish leader is urging Jews to support public appeals to aid Iran earthquake
victims despite Tehran saying it doesn't want help from Israel.

Sydney's Jewish Labor Forum executive GEORGE NEWHOUSE, a Waverley councillor, has urged
Jews to donate to the Australian Red Cross and World Vision appeals.

He says while Jews abhor the hardline Islamic regime, they have no conflict with the
Iranian people who are suffering in the south-eastern city of Bam.

The quake in the city of Bam has killed more than 25,000 people.
