Vic: Man drowns in Frankston

A man has drowned while swimming this afternoon at Frankston beach .. in Melbourne's south.

An ambulance spokesman says the man .. believed to be in his 40s .. was on his friend's
catamaran about 200 metres from the Frankston foreshore when he went for a swim.

His friend found him face down in the water .. dragged him onto the catamaran and gave him CPR.

Bystanders on the shore and ambulance officers also tried to revive the man .. without success.
