Qld: Pedestrian safety the driver for lower speed limit

Motorists returning to Brisbane's central business District after the Easter break
will find the city moving more slowly than before.

The 50 kilometre speed limit will be lowered by 10 kays as Brisbane City Council moves
to make the city safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Brisbane will join Melbourne and Adelaide in having a 40 kilometre speed limit in its CBD.

The limit in Perth has been lowered to 50 kilometres in parts .. while Hobart retains
its 60 kilometres limit.

The default speed limit in Sydney is 50 kilometres .. but some zones are 40 kilometres
and even 30 kilometres.
